Sony FE 12-24mm f/2.8 GM Aperture Series @ 19mm: Deck and House (with and without pixel shift)
This series with the Sony FE 12-24mm f/2.8 GM demonstrates the gains delivered by Sony 4-shot pixel shift, from f/2.8 through f/11, showing the images and crops both with and without pixels shift.
The 12-2/2.8 GM is an “important” lens in that it has little if any competition anywhere in its zoom range, zoom or prime. While Nikon mirrorless and Canon mirrorless both have very fine offerings, neither delivers the 12-14mm extension, and that 12-14mm zone adds a lot of value for me.
And while pixel shift is often problematic for outdoors, the results here show that you can get well into medium format image quality territory, and with the depth of field of 35mm on top of outstanding real (actual) depth of field that the lens delivers.
