Leica M10 Monochrom, Eureka Dunes
See my Leica wishlist at B&H Photo and thanks for buying with those links.
Pleasant warm temps in northern Death Valley at the ~3000 foot elevation level.
I am finding that the Leica M10 Monochrom makes a superb camera for this time of year with its muted colors and stark patterns. Not much point to color in this harsh lighting.
Watch out for the dust pit getting over to this side of the dunes—I nearly got stuck with the very high clearance and 4WD over on this side in my Sprinter van—ultra-fine “moon-dust” 4 to 8 inches deep on top of soft stuff—failure to maintain momentum is a surefire way to have a very unpleasant time here, but we just made it through, both ways.
Here are some images from the Winter Solstice using the Leica M10 Monochrom + Leica 24m f/3.8 Elmar-M ASPH + B+W 091 Dark Red filter. I will be publishing many full-res images when I return home late this week. We are wintering-over for XMAS in the Alabama Hills.
