This series evaluates performance of the Canon RF 50mm f/1.2L USM for pure visual impact, which is truly outstanding as seen over and over again.
Canon RF 50mm f/1.2L USM Aperture Series: Survivor Aspen
Includes images up to full camera resolution from f/1.2 through f/11.
In my view, the Canon RF 50mm f/1.2L USM is a must-have lens for the serious Canon shooter. At about $2299, it’s a steal for what it delivers: world-class excellence.
Below, this lucky aspen survived. Maybe 100K tons rocks lubricated by mud roared down 1500 vertical feet from the surrounding mountains, wiping out everything in its path in this slide (one of at least six or more massive rockslides resulting from some instantaneous biblical deluge), with this lucky populus tremuloides the only trembling survivor in the path of this onslaught, where before a thicket had stood. Some happenstance must have saved it. In 30 years of visiting the Sierra, I have never seen such implacable destruction (see some of it in my review of the Nikon Z sytem), other than the 150 mph / 240 km/hr freak downdraft winds that slapped 2-3 foot trees to the ground like matchsticks.
