Turns out I had some sorbothane bumpers lying around. I installed one on a strategic position on the Really Right Stuff MPR CL II rail for the for the Zeiss 55mm f/1.4 APO-Distagon.
Tap tests with and without the bumper on the end of the lens showed a major reduction in vibration, raising my hopes that this would quell the Sony A7R shutter vibration. I have not run my critical tests, but it looks promising.
A grateful thanks to the reader kindly indulging my taste in red wine.
