Zeiss Plans a new ZM Lens (Fits Leica M and Mirrorless w/adapter)
Carl Zeiss plans a new ZM lens (Leica M mount), which can fit on many of the mirrorless cameras with an adapter (Sony NEX, Fuji X-Pro1, Olympus E-M5, Ricoh GXR see ALLVIEW):
For fans of the Carl Zeiss family of ZM systems for rangefinder cameras, Carl Zeiss has a special surprise in store. In 2013, at least one fast lens with M bayonet will go on sale. Using lenses from the ZM series with adapters is also very popular on mirrorless system cameras.
If it’s a fast lens (f/1.4 or perhaps even f/1.2 or f/1.0), I sure hope that it is well corrected for the sharpness-robbing nuisance of focus shift. And it sure would be nice to see an APO design with aspherics. Personally I’d be happy with an f/2 design with very high performance and without the ray angle issues.
