Product Photography: Nikon D3x + Nikon 24/1.4G, Moots Vamoots RSL
For product photography like this, I like to move around the bike and take advantage of autofocus speed and accuracy. Also, Adobe Camera RAW (ACR) has a lens profile for the Nikon 24mm f/1.4G, so I can correct out the significant red/cyan color fringing and the distortion as well.
I use the 24mm because I like the bit of perspective it gives (since it allows me to move in closer). And I light like this because most biking shots look like they are computer generated, and are really boring as a result. So my shots are less “professional”, but a lot more interesting to me as a cyclist!
For the background, I used the inexpensive Impact Super Collapsible Background in black, which helped me get a decent background (I really don’t have the space for a proper setup, so I did what I could in a cramped space, still got some wrinkles for that reason.).
