Product Photography with the Nikon D3s and Nikon AF-S 24mm f/1.4G
The 12MP Nikon D3s still has the best sensor on the market, producing stunning wide-gamut color with a depth and life matched by few other cameras (if any), and a velvety black level free of color noise.
I’ve been using the Nikon D3s along with the excellent Nikon 24mm f/1.4G for product photography lately. I love the results, provided that lens corrections in Adobe Camera RAW are used to correct distortion and color fringing (but not vignetting, which I want to preserve).
This subject proved challenging— the bright reds are badly mangled by both the sRGB and AdobeRGB color space (reds become dull and orangey), and reproduce correctly only on a wide-gamut color display in a wide gamut colorspace (ProPhotoRGB). Yet there are guys out there who love color, yet insist on JPEG with sRGB. Ironic.
