Reader Now Favors Zeiss 50mm f/2 Makro-Planar

Based on your review I got myself a 50/2 Makro-Planar. I already owned a Canon 100mm macro (the old one without IS) but considered the Zeiss a worthwhile addition. That turned out the other way round: after a couple of months the 50/2 Makro-Planar has not only become my favorite macro lens, but I am now also using it for landscapes and it is a great tool for panorama stitching. It is plainly an addictive lens, even with an APS-C sensor camera! Great handling, a joy to focus, and of course lovely, crisp pictures.
The bad thing about addictions though is that you always want more so the next step is to replace the Canon with the 100/2 Makro-Planar. Thanks for getting me on the right path.
DIGLLOYD: Zeiss lenses grow on their users, because the results are lovely in myriad ways (or at least potentially lovely, one has to make the image after all!).
And while manual focus can be a challenge in some shooting situations or for those with visual limitations, I prefer the control and feel of manual focus for most of my shooting.
